Veneers
Build your dream smile
While whitening and bonding can provide your smile with some polish, it might call for something more involved. Veneers are thin, v-shaped pieces of porcelain that fit over your natural teeth. They are crafted specifically for your smile and aesthetic goals, in the shape, size and color that you and Dr. Patel determine. This is the best way to achieve a full smile makeover while retaining as much natural tooth structure as possible.
How Veneers transform your smile
It’s important to know that you and Dr. Patel will work together to plan your veneers. While you may have seen some celebrities or acquaintances with more obvious veneers (too white, too chunky, too symmetrical), this is a sign of lack of experience with the procedure. Dr. Patel will craft a smile that truly looks like your own, with subtle tailoring to deliver a natural result.
Some of the most common reasons patients pursue veneers include
- Whitening stained teeth, especially those that resist hydrogen peroxide whitening
- Rebuilding worn front teeth
- Restoring chipped teeth
- Filling gaps between teeth
- Improving overall smile symmetry
- Covering yellow dentin or exposed roots from enamel wear and gum loss
- Straightening slightly crooked teeth
- … and nearly any other cosmetic goals you have for your front teeth.
Dental Veneers FAQ
Is getting veneers painful?
During veneer prep, Dr. Patel will gently trim your enamel to create space for the veneers to fit in place. This ensures that your veneers look natural and not bulky. You will be numb during this process and will not experience any discomfort. After tooth prep, there are no other potentially painful steps during the procedure.
We also offer sedation and patient amenities to put you at ease during your appointments.
How many appointments will the veneer process take?
It will typically take between 2-3 appointments, depending whether you have your consultation and tooth preparation during one appointment. At your final appointment, your porcelain veneers are placed and your final smile is complete.
Will I need to treat my veneers in a special way?
For the most part, veneers can be treated just like natural teeth. If you experience nighttime grinding, it is best to get a custom night guard to protect your veneers and ensure they last as long as possible. You should also avoid using your teeth as tools or biting into anything other than food – although we also recommend this for natural teeth!
How long do veneers last?
With proper care, veneers typically last between 10-15 years, although they can last longer.
Will my veneers look natural?
You and Dr. Patel will choose the appropriate shade and shape for your veneers so that they blend with your other teeth and suit your features. Porcelain mimics your natural enamel in the way that it reflects and filters light, so your veneers won’t be obvious to anyone. With time, you’ll forget that they’re even in place and aren’t your natural teeth.
How much do veneers cost? Are they covered by insurance?
Cost varies depending on the number of teeth you’re treating – we do our best to offer a competitive price. If you’re ever uncertain about the cost of a procedure or how you will budget for it, get in touch to speak with our team – we are empathetic to your needs and will work with you to determine a payment solution.
Are there alternatives to veneers?
Depending on your case, you may be content with whitening or bonding for superficial concerns. If your teeth are in need of more structural restoration, we may recommend crowns. If your jaws are misaligned or your teeth are moderately crooked, we may recommend Invisalign.
